What is a sub-bass system?
Many so-called ‘full-range’ loudspeakers cannot reproduce
the low bass frequencies found on most music and movie discs, which are
necessary for the accurate reproduction of the original recording and
help to impart a natural ambience that is immediately recognisable by
listeners as being closer to ‘the real thing’. Movie DVDs incorporate a
dedicated bass channel for the deeper bass special effects, but a
properly designed sub-bass system will not only reproduce these with
accuracy, it will also augment the output of conventional stereo and
surround loudspeakers with very low frequency bass that is felt rather
than heard. The result is greater fidelity.
The system with a wider bandwidth will always sound more realistic and
ultimately more entertaining and stimulating. In many cases, the best
way, the only way, to add these critical bass frequencies is to
introduce a correctly designed sub-bass system, which not only has the
technical ability to reveal the deepest sounds, but also integrates
seamlessly with the loudspeakers so that your system speaks with one
deeper, more natural voice.
Rel Gibraltor G1 High End system
The G1 features REL’s most recent
exposition on amplifier topology, driver technology and
operational interface. Housed within a sumptuous furniture-grade
enclosure finished in gloss piano black lacquer resides a
massive 12” long-throw carbon fibre driver, 700 watt Class A/B
power amplifier and the award-winning REL connectivity suite
providing the most flexible and sonically transparent
integration, weight and low-frequency authority to the main
loudspeaker system. Employing an extensively braced enclosure
sculpted in a truly sensuous shape, the G1 is massive, yet
elegant. While it is physically commanding, its finely tuned
shape finished in furniture-grade hand-rubbed high-gloss piano
black lacquer will blend seamlessly into any interior
environment. REL’s vast engineering experience is evident in the
G1’s power amplifier. Featuring a linear Class A/B topology
employing no less than six MOS-FET devices, massive power
supplies and transformer there is no mistaking the G1 with a
common subwoofer. Execution of build and component part choice
is first-class resulting in extensive ruggedness and
reliability. Mated to this massive power plant is a tight-wind
carbon fibre 12” drive unit capable of an exceptional pistonic
stroke of 1-3/4 inches! This costly drive unit was necessary in

Rel T5
The REL T-5 delivers the exceptional low-bass
performance, rugged build quality and unique design of larger
REL models at a more affordable price. The form of the T-5 is a
simple minimalist cube elevated by four aluminum feet. It is
deceptively small and compact blending in beautifully with its
surroundings and is available in your choice of Gloss Black or
White lacquer. Bass output is powerful and robust considering
the T-5's compact dimensions and the T-5 features a full REL
connectivity suite.

Rel T7
Brand new model, with that typical

system. A very small foot print yet it houses a REL 200 watt RMS
amplifier. The driver is a new 8" down firing unit that takes

Rel T9
The REL T9 produces 300 watts with
its high-current Class AB down-firing 10” ULT™ ultra-long throw
bass engine with a front-firing 10” passive radiator. The active
10” driver has a steel frame and high power voice coil with
hand-thrown paper cone. The 10” Passive radiator employs
ultra-fast and stiff carbon fiber and produces the same surface
area as a 15” driver. Furthermore, the REL T9 boasts continuous
crossover levels of 30-120 Hz.

Rel 218
Series R was conceived as a maximum
value proposition in the entire REL product range possessing
many of the performance attributes of our legendary Reference
Sub-Bass Systems, yet realized to be more compact and
affordable. This fresh design approach offers superiority in all
regards over the previous R-Series through improved
amplification, vastly better filter networks and upgraded
cabinet and driver designs.
Models R-528 and R-328 feature both active front-firing and a
down-firing passive radiator while R-218 employs a single active
driver in the down-firing configuration. The range excels in
drive, extension, ease and musicality wherein their speed mixes
with the greater body and heft to produce an altogether more
profound musical event.

Offering incredible performance per pound
ratio, the new REL R-328 active subwoofer offers a sustantial
improvement in bass extension, speed and power output over the
previous R series range.Equipped with a 350W high efficiency
class D power amplifier which can take both LFE inputs from AV
receivers and high level stereo feeds from stereo amplifiers,
the REL R-328 active subwoofer has not one but two custom
designed long throw drivers, the 12" active one firing forward,
the 10" passive one firing downwards.
With re-designed active filters and phase controls, more rigid
cabinet and more linear drive units, the REL R-328 active
subwoofer really takes sub-bass performance to the next level
